Home UAE Dubai In Dubai, you can now book taxis via WhatsApp This new feature aims to streamline the booking process by leveraging the widely used messaging app, enhancing accessibility for both residents and tourists by Gulf Business September 11, 2024 Image: Hala Hala Taxis, a joint venture between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Careem, has expanded its services, allowing users to book rides through WhatsApp for added convenience. This new feature aims to streamline the booking process by leveraging the widely used messaging app, enhancing accessibility for both residents and tourists. The move to integrate WhatsApp booking is part of Hala’s broader strategy to embrace digital solutions and improve user experience. How it works Booking a Hala Taxi through WhatsApp is straightforward. Customers can save the dedicated WhatsApp number, 800-HALATAXI (+971-800- 4252-8294), and initiate the process by sending a simple “Hi” message. They are then guided through prompts to finalise their booking. For those unfamiliar with the Careem app, this new system provides an easier alternative while maintaining the same fare structure and services. Flexible payment options for Hala users Riders can pay for their trips with cash, credit or debit cards and Apple Pay. The estimated fare is provided upfront before confirming the ride. While Hala credits and promotional discounts are not available for WhatsApp bookings, customers can still redeem these offers via the Careem app. No additional fees Booking through WhatsApp incurs no extra fees, with fare calculations remaining consistent across platforms. The service ensures that receipts are sent directly through the WhatsApp chat after each trip, maintaining transparency for users. Cancellation policies Hala offers a five-minute grace period for cancellations without a fee. After this period, or if the driver has already begun their journey, customers will be charged Dhs12. This fee is added to their account and can be cleared via a Careem Pay link. While the WhatsApp service provides access to Hala’s sedan fleet, customers seeking specialised options like the six-seater Hala Max or Hala Kids (which includes a child seat) will need to use the Careem app. Additionally, ride scheduling and promotional discounts are also exclusive to the app. Read: Dubai Taxi doubles airport fleet, adds new taxis in expansion drive Tags Booking Careem app Dubai Hala taxis transport WhatsApp You might also like Elite Group Holding to develop Dhs100m auto hub in Dubai Dubai’s RTA introduces app-based minibus pooling service Dubai launches region’s first drone delivery system Arab Health to mark 50th anniversary with landmark edition in Jan
