GCC-wide weather alert: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar issue advisories

GCC countries are bracing for unstable weather conditions with governments issuing weather advisory as well as distance learning directives.

Saudi Arabia issues weather alert

The National Centre of Meteorology of Saudi Arabia (NCM KSA) has issued a red alert for multiple parts of the country.

Governorates of Medina, Sakaka, Jandal and others have been placed under a red alert with the weather agency forecasting torrential rain and windy conditions.

Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defence said that most parts of the kingdom will experience moderate-to-torrential thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds, until Friday.

Regions to be affected include Asir, Baha, Makkah, Medina, Jazan, Qassim, Jouf, Hail, Tabuk, Northern Borders, Riyadh as well as the Eastern Province.

Certain governorates have issued distance learning directives due to the inclement weather conditions.

Oman

Weather authorities in Oman have forecast heavy rains along the coastal regions.

Oman Metereology forecast unstable weather conditions for the mountainous region of the country from May 1-3.


Bahrain

Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior has cautioned motorists of unsafe driving conditions due to inclement weather.

Qatar

Qatar Meteorology Department has warns of thunder and heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality as well as Ministry of Interior have warned residents of turbulent conditions as well as cautioned motorists of reduced visibility on roads.
