Free parking in Dubai during national sterilisation programme – RTA

The ongoing disinfection drive takes place daily between 8pm and 6am the following day and will continue until April 5

Parking charges to rise across Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) tweeted on Friday, March 27, that public parking across the emirate would be free from 8pm until 6am the following day during the national sterlisation programme.

The UAE began the disinfection programme on Thursday, March 26, which covers public utilities, public transport as well as streets across the country. It was scheduled to end on Sunday, March 29.

However, on March 28, officials confirmed that they had decided to extend the programme daily until the morning of April 5.

On March 23, the Sharjah Municipality too announced free public parking across all areas of the emirate.

In related news, the Ministry of Interior meanwhile announced on Thursday, March 26, that all driving licences issued within the UAE, and due to expire within the next three months, would be renewed online irrespective of fines, black points and without the need of eye tests.

Also, motorists in the UAE were allowed to renew their vehicles’ registration cards without having to visit any service delivery centre as part of the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
