Home Covid-19 Four new Dhs50 rapid Covid-19 testing centres open in UAE to facilitate Abu Dhabi entry The new centres include two in Dubai’s Rashid Port and Al Khawaneej area and one each in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah by Aarti Nagraj August 10, 2020 Four new rapid Covid-19 testing centres, offering tests for Dhs50, have been opened across the UAE to facilitate entry into Abu Dhabi. The UAE capital requires a Covid-negative test for residents and visitors to enter. The new centres, including two in Dubai’s Rashid Port and Al Khawaneej area and one each in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, conduct tests using the laser-based DPI technology, which offers results in minutes. The test can detect virus-caused inflammation in blood samples within seconds. Those with a positive result must undergo a nasal swab PCR test to confirm if they have the virus. The new centres are similar to the first tent set up in Ghantoot site on the border of Abu Dhabi in July. The new laser DPI technique has bene developed by QuantLase Imaging Lab, the medical-research department of Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange-listed International Holdings Company (IHC). It developed the new technique in May, after which it underwent trials before being pressed into service in July.
