In July, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued a federal decree to establish the FHO, under which over 80,000 professionals have already been registered. The airline said that the new incentives would be applicable to all registered medical and non-medical staff including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, cleaning and sanitisation personnel, as well as protection and prevention workers, and security and emergency personnel. Employees working in frontline services need to contact their organisation’s HR department to check if they have been registered with the FHO. Yet, through all the adversity, we’ve had the opportunity to shine a light on our national heroes,” said Tony Douglas, group CEO of Etihad Aviation Group. “It’s clear we have a huge debt of gratitude to the frontline heroes who have worked so tirelessly and selflessly to keep our country going. Those individuals have my utmost respect and it is a great honour that Etihad can give back to this community,” added Douglas. Meanwhile, professor Maha Barakat, director general of the FHO, said: “We at the Frontline Heroes Office are extremely proud of the swift response from Etihad Airways in their commitment to support frontline heroes who have dedicated their lives to the nation. We look forward to strengthening this ongoing partnership and continuing our commitment to source exemplary institutions like Etihad Airways to build an ecosystem of organisations to aid frontline heroes.” Etihad’s decision to partner with FHO came hours after Aldar Properties said that it too had signed an MoU with the FHO to allow grant registered individuals, Dhs4,000 vouchers redeemable at Yas Mall, as well as the option for partial refunds on property purchases and a four-year waiver on service charges too.
