Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the issuance of paper parking tickets will be decommissioned.

RTA said that parking machines were updated to include interactive touch screens that would enable users to obtain an e-ticket, marking today, May 17, as the last day for the issuance of paper parking tickets.

RTA had announced its e-parking ticket initiative in January this year, adding that upgraded parking metres will be installed over multiple phases starting from Q1 2020 till the end of 2022.

The eParking tickets will be similar to text messages for mobile phones, it had said at the time.
