Dubai’s RTA to launch eParking ticket

The project will be implemented with upgraded parking metres being installed starting Q1 2020

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is preparing to introduce an eParking ticket, Dubai Media Office reported.

The initiative is aligned with parking metres being upgraded with interactive touch screens, which will enable motorists to enter vehicle details, and have eParking tickets issued, a statement said.

The eParking tickets will be similar to text messages for mobile phones, leaving no need to display the paper ticket on the vehicle, hence upgrading the service level of paying parking fees.

Upgraded parking metres will be installed over multiple phases starting from Q1 2020 till the end of 2022.

The implementation of this project commenced after the review of public polls conducted during the pilot phase of improved parking metres installed across multiple locations, the statement said.

The initiative, part of smart transformation of RTA’s parking department, caters to the trend of using technology that eliminates the hassle of issuing and displaying paper tickets on vehicles.

The move will also scrap fines that are levied due to improper display of parking tickets, as well as enable the payment of parking fees for motorbikes.

Earlier this month, RTA announced that motorists in Dubai could now earn loyalty points on Nol Plus by paying parking fees via the RTA app.
