Upgraded parking metres will be installed over multiple phases starting from Q1 2020 till the end of 2022. The implementation of this project commenced after the review of public polls conducted during the pilot phase of improved parking metres installed across multiple locations, the statement said. The initiative, part of smart transformation of RTA’s parking department, caters to the trend of using technology that eliminates the hassle of issuing and displaying paper tickets on vehicles. The move will also scrap fines that are levied due to improper display of parking tickets, as well as enable the payment of parking fees for motorbikes.
