Dubai’s GoFood app launches grocery delivery service

GoFood Grocery service requires a minimum order worth Dhs100

Dubai’s home-grown delivery app GoFood has launched ‘GoFood Grocery’, a next-day fresh grocery delivery service across the emirate.

Available via the app, the service offers everyday essentials, including baked goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and meat, frozen food, household essentials, pantry items, etc.

GoFood Grocery service requires a minimum order worth Dhs100, which is offset by a 30 per cent discount on orders for the first month and a Dhs12 delivery fee.

“The overwhelming response we have received since launching our delivery app just over a week ago has reinforced our belief that the residents of Dubai are open to trying new things and exploring new avenues,” said Shanavas Mohamed, one of the founders of GoFood.

“When customers use GoFood Grocery, they are supporting local farmers directly and once again contributing to the greater good of the community,” he added.

“The lockdown and global pandemic provided us with many insights, one of them being that grocery delivery isn’t just a luxury but in uncertain times such as these, a necessity too. Our research shows that this trend is set to continue so launching a grocery delivery service was a natural next step in our journey,” added Naveed Dowlatshahi, CEO of GoFood.

“The GoFood Grocery fulfilment model of not using third-parties but being the supplier ensures a seamless shopping experience where quality is never compromised. It also enables us to keep track of stocks and offer delivery within 24 hours,” he added.

Online prepayment and contactless delivery options are available for GoFood Grocery customers, while highest levels of hygiene, including regular sanitisation of all storage facilities and delivery vehicles to delivery agents undergoing regular temperature checks and wearing PPE, are maintained.

In April, Food delivery service Careem NOW introduced an on-demand grocery, medicine and other essentials delivery service across Dubai.
