Home UAE Dubai Top of the class: Dubai’s best teachers now eligible for golden visas Golden Visas will be awarded to top educators in private early childhood centres, schools, and higher education institutions in Dubai by Gareth van Zyl October 6, 2024 Dubai has announced Golden Visas for exceptional educators in its private education sector, marking a significant step in recognising the role of teachers in shaping the city’s future. The move comes under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and aims to honour teachers for their outstanding contributions. The announcement was made Saturday by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day. It highlights the critical role educators play in building a sustainable future for Dubai and aligns with the recently launched Education 33 strategy, which focuses on enhancing the quality of education and fostering a competitive learning environment. Golden Visas will be awarded to educators in private early childhood centres, schools, and higher education institutions in Dubai who have demonstrated significant contributions to the academic success of students. The initiative will particularly recognise those who have garnered positive feedback from the community for their efforts to enhance the quality of education. The move is part of Dubai’s broader ambition to strengthen its education sector by attracting and retaining high-calibre educators. By offering long-term residency, the emirate aims to create a supportive environment that encourages educators to innovate and excel in their roles. Sheikh Hamdan praised the dedication of educators, acknowledging their efforts in shaping minds and preparing future generations to drive the progress of nations. “On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all teachers and educators. We deeply value their mission and the invaluable role they play in shaping minds, nurturing future generations, and driving the progress of nations,” he said. “Today, we celebrate their dedication and achievements, which not only define our present but also lay the foundation for a prosperous future. Teachers are a source of inspiration for today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders, and their contributions support Dubai’s development, reaffirming its commitment to investing in human capital.” Dubai, UAE focus on education The decision to grant Golden Visas to exceptional educators aligns with the vision of the UAE’s leadership to place education at the core of national development. It also follows a recent initiative by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, establishing the Emirati Day for Education, which will be celebrated annually on 28 February. The day is set to honour the contributions of all education sector workers. The Golden Visa initiative for teachers aims to position Dubai as a hub for educational talent, supporting its E33 strategy’s goal of instilling lifelong learning values and enhancing the quality of education at all levels. The strategy also ties in to the objectives of the Social Agenda 33, which includes creating an education system that can meet Dubai’s future ambitions and enhance its human capital.
