Dubai launches world's first sustainable mobile floating fire station

In a groundbreaking move, Dubai Civil Defense has launched the world’s first sustainable mobile floating fire station, marking a significant leap forward in maritime emergency response.

This innovative station, designed with both efficiency and sustainability in mind, promises swifter response times and enhanced safety for Dubai’s ever-expanding maritime industry.

This unique station isn’t just functionally impressive; it’s also environmentally conscious.

Unlike traditional marine fire stations requiring dedicated land space, this mobile marvel eliminates that need, resulting in a 70 per cent cost reduction and a smaller carbon footprint.

Its eco-friendly design also incorporates features like energy-efficient systems and a focus on renewable resources.

The mobile floating fire station’s strategic deployment across Dubai’s vital maritime zones aims to significantly reduce response times for maritime incidents.

The target response time is just four minutes, ensuring timely intervention and potentially saving lives and property.

The station boasts a notable speed of 11 miles per hour, allowing it to swiftly reach incident locations.

Additionally, the station utilises smart solutions to boost the safety index of Dubai’s waterways.

The mobile floating fire station can house up to 16 personnel, ensuring enough manpower for diverse emergencies.

The mobile floating fire station will support the emirate’s commitment to safety

Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, director general of Dubai Civil Defense, said: “The deployment of the mobile floating fire station marks a significant step forward in our journey towards achieving global leadership in safety and security.

“The inauguration of this station not only demonstrates our dedication to generating innovative safety solutions but also aligns with our commitment to contributing to enhancing Dubai’s overall infrastructure and services.

“A significant enhancement to our marine firefighting capabilities, this facility makes Dubai a frontrunner in reducing response times to maritime incidents, with a target response time of just four minutes.”
