All licenced venues in the emirate will have to refrain from serving alcohol during that period, according to a circular issued by Dubai Tourism and the Dubai government. There will also be a ban on entertainment, including live music, performers and parties. The UAE has announced that public and private sector employees in the UAE will get one day off to mark the Islamic New Year. Sunday, August 23 will be a paid leave for all workers across the country.
