Home UAE Dubai DEWA to co-organise eighth World Green Economy Summit in September The summit represents UAE’s efforts to strengthen regional and international cooperation, achieve climate neutrality and accelerate transition to a green economy by Zubina Ahmed July 27, 2022 The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) are organising the eighth World Green Economy Summit (WGES) According to the Dubai Media Office, the summit will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre, on September 28 and 29. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD & CEO of DEWA and Chairman of the World Green Economy Summit said, “The WGES represents the UAE and Dubai’s efforts to strengthen regional and international cooperation, achieve climate neutrality and accelerate the transition to a green economy. Besides housing the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) headquarters, it remains the first country in the region to sign and ratify the Paris Agreement. Last year, it announced a new Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative to reduce carbon emissions and plans for 50 per cent of its energy to come from renewable sources by 2050. The 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) will be held at Expo City Dubai in November 2023.
