Boeing confirms order for six 737 Maxs from SCAT Airlines

Boeing and Airbus have been battling for attention at this week’s Dubai Airshow

US plane maker Boeing has announced an order for six 737 Max 8s from Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines at the Dubai Airshow.

The deal, worth $674m at list prices, includes additional purchase rights for five 737 Max 8s.

SCAT Airlines currently has a fleet of 737s, 757s and 767s and plans to use the new plans to expand to destinations in Europe, Russia and Asia.

The deal follows an order sealed by Boeing’s rival Airbus earlier today for two A320neos from Air Sénégal.

The two companies have battled for the limelight at this year’s Dubai Airshow with major orders announced on both sides yesterday.

Airbus sealed its largest ever order by volume from US aviation investor Bill Franke’s Indigo Partners for 430 A320neo aircraft.

This was followed by a Boeing deal for up to 225 737 Max aircraft with Flydubai
