Home Transport Aviation Air Arabia to operate special repatriation flights to Egypt Only Egyptian nationals will be allowed to board these flights scheduled between June 11-16 by Varun Godinho June 9, 2020 Sharjah-based carrier Air Arabia has said that it will operate a series of special outbound-only repatriation flights from the UAE to Egypt starting June 11 until June 16. The flights are scheduled from Sharjah International Airport to Cairo International Airport and Borg El Arab International Airport, Alexandria in Egypt. Only Egyptian nationals in the UAE will be permitted to board these flights to return home. The airline said that tickets could be booked via its website, call centre or through a travel agent. There are two daily flights to Cairo departing from Sharjah at 1pm and 10.20pm available at an average price of Dhs2,000, according to its website. There is also one daily flight available to Alexandria from Egypt departing at 9.40pm and priced at approximately Dhs1,800 for economy class. Last week, the UAE government announced that it would permit limited flights from airports across the country including Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi after having shut airports for commercial passenger operations at the end of March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In related news, on June 3, Air Arabia confirmed that it too had laid off staff due to the Covid-19 crisis, as have other UAE-based airlines.
