Al Rumaihi was appointed chairman of Alba in October 2023. Leading one of the world’s largest aluminium smelters, Al Rumaihi previously served as the CEO of Bahrain Mumtalakat, chief executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) and managing director of Investcorp. Alba signed a technology services agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium for its Reduction Line 6 in March. The company reported a full-year net profit of $313.9m (BHD118M) while total assets stood at BHD2.6bn as of December 31, 2023. It set a new record with the production of 1,620,665 metric tonnes (MT) in 2023, a 1.3 per cent increase or 20,554 MT compared to 1,600,111 MT in 2022. Al Rumaihi sits on the boards of Mumtalakat, the McLaren Group, EDB and Bapco Energies. He is also a member of the advisory board of Harvard Business School Middle East and North Africa.
