The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has approved a new framework regarding flexible work types at the federal government level in the UAE, reported state news agency WAM.

These flexible work types may be granted to employees by federal authorities under exceptional circumstances and in line with approved conditions.

The cabinet’s decision, encompasses various employment patterns and flexible work timings for the public sector, in accordance with the Human Resources Law.

Flexible work guidelines

These include:

  • Full-time
  • Part-time
  • Temporary work
  • Flexible work
  • Approved remote work from within the country
  • Remote work from outside the country
  • Hybrid work
  • Compressed work

FAHR plans to conduct introductory workshops on the General Framework for Employment Patterns and Flexible Work Types in Federal Government throughout February. These workshops aim to educate HR Managers and officials in ministries and federal entities to ensure proper implementation and maximum benefit.

The framework aligns with the UAE’s strategy for future work governance, ensuring business continuity and task performance within federal entities during official working hours. It also aims to enhance functional and institutional performance efficiency and effectiveness while attracting and retaining skilled individuals through the flexibility provided by Human Resources Legislation.

This framework represents a significant addition to proactive measures, adaptability, and flexibility within Human Resources Legislation in the federal government. It supports the UAE’s future directions by keeping pace with rapid changes in the work environment driven by advanced technological capabilities and adopting new trends in government work worldwide.
