Mothers across the UAE who are employed at ministries and federal entities and have children in nurseries, will be granted flexible working hours, according to a circular issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR).

Under the mandate, working mothers may arrive two hours late or leave two hours earlier than regular working hours to tend to their children registered at nurseries which have been suspended on coronavirus fears.

The directive was issued following a decision by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to temporarily close nurseries from March 1 as a precautionary measure against the virus.

The flexible working hours will be called off once nurseries are reopened.

FAHR urged all entities concerned to abide by the decision for as long as it does not impact the workflow.
