UAE national carrier Etihad Airways has commenced flights to three key destinations of Dusseldorf, Copenhagen and Osaka.

Services to Dusseldorf (DUS) began on September 28, followed the next day by Copenhagen (CPH) and then Osaka (KIX) on October 1.

The airline has also increased frequencies to destinations including Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and Colombo (CMB).

Etihad has already announced the launch of nine new destinations this year, including Malaga, Mykonos, Lisbon, Kolkata, St Petersburg, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Osaka, and Boston.

Additionally, it recently announced new routes to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram in India which will be launched in January 2024.

As part of its decision to ramp up operations, it will operate an additional five flights per week to Cairo from Jan 1 making it a triple daily service to Cairo.

From December 1, it will operate three direct flights per week to Colombo and four flights effective from Jan 1, increasing to 10 per week from May 2024.

It will also operate a double daily service to Kuala Lumpur from January 15, 2024 and an additional seven flights per week to the Maldives, with three flights effective from December 1 and four flights from January 1.

“The new flights are the next important steps as we enhance our network delivering greater connectivity for our guests, and serving their demand for more opportunities to visit Abu Dhabi,” said Antonoaldo Neves, chief executive officer of Etihad Airways.

“We are helping accelerate economic growth for the city by providing more travel options and seamless connections, ensuring it’s easier for guests to visit Abu Dhabi either as a destination, or as part of a stopover as they explore our growing global network.”

Etihad earlier this year began the process of reintroducing the A380 superjumbo into its fleet. Etihad’s A380s feature The Residence as well as three cabin classes on the double-decker aircraft, including nine First Apartments, 70 Business Studios and 405 Economy Smart Seats.
