Under his tutelage QIA, one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, manages $450bn in assets and ranks as the world’s ninth largest by total assets, according to the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute. QIA has steered its strategy to focus more on diversification and investments with ESG goals. Outside of QIA, Al-Mahmoud is the vice chairman of Qatar Stock Exchange and serves on the board of Qatar National Bank.
