Covid-19: Oman suspends arrivals from 24 countries

Oman has also announced a complete lockdown in the country across three days of Eid Al Adha

Oman has suspended arrivals from 24 countries including India, Pakistan and the UK as part of measures to curb the spread of Covid-19, it announced on Thursday.

Flights from the 24 countries have been suspended until further notice, the sultanate’s official Twitter account for countering Covid-19 revealed on Thursday.

The ban on arrivals from some of those countries has already been in place since April 24.

The 24 countries on the list include: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the UK, Tunisia, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Sudan, Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Guinea, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil.

On Wednesday, the sultanate announced that has lifted restrictions on passengers arriving from Egypt.

Officials in Oman also confirmed a complete lockdown in the country across three days of Eid Al Adha later this month. During that time, a total ban will be imposed on all commercial activities and the movement of individuals and vehicles as well.

Additionally there will be a daily evening closure of commercial activities and ban on movement of individuals and vehicles from 5pm until 4am (the following day) starting from Friday, July 16, 2021, until the morning of Saturday, July 31, 2021.
