Home UAE Dubai Dubai scraps traffic fines discount scheme Drivers who have already received the discounts will be able to retain them by Zainab Mansoor September 21, 2020 Dubai has suspended its discount initiative on traffic fines, according to media reports. The initiative that was extended for another 12 months this February, was initially announced in February 2019. The discount scheme rewarded motorists by reducing or even completely waiving their accumulated traffic fines. Read: Dubai Police extends initiative to waive traffic fines With the decommissioning of the the discount scheme, motorists will now need to pay the entire amount of traffic fines incurred. However, those who have already received the discounts will be able to retain the reductions. A total of 557,430 motorists profited from last year’s initiative. The 2019/20 traffic fines settlement initiative helped prevent fatal traffic accidents by 16 per cent, while prompting a 38 per cent dip in severe injuries on roads.
