Dubai’s Emirates to restore full salaries of employees from October

Dubai carrier Emirates has confirmed that it will restore full salaries of its employees, beginning October.

“We can confirm that Emirates will restore full salaries of our employees from next month,” an Emirates spokesperson told Gulf Business. 

The carrier first introduced salary cuts in March this year, as the pandemic eroded through travel demand worldwide, forcibly grounding the airline’s fleet.

In view of continued compressed travel demand, crew members at the carrier were asked to take further voluntary unpaid leave last month.

However, the airline’s COO Adel al Redha, lended hope in August, when he asserted that Emirates aims to serve 100 per cent of its network destinations, tantamount to 143 cities, by summer 2021.

To this end, the airline has been gradually restoring its network connectivity, working closely with international and local authorities to meet travel demand.

With recent announcements of resumption of passenger services to Amman, Lagos and Abuja, the airline’s network will scale to 84 destinations this month.

Emirates was also the first global airline to offer Covid-19 related cover to passengers, allowing customers to claim medical expenses of up to EUR150,000 and quarantine costs of EUR100 per day for 14 days, regardless of the class of travel or destination on flights undertaken until October 31.
