Ajman cancels all traffic fines of doctors and nurses in the emirate

Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, ordered the General Command of Ajman Police on Tuesday to cancel all traffic violations of all “doctors and nursing staff” in the emirate, reported official news agency WAM.

Sheikh Ammar emphasised that “sacrifices make heroes” calling for solidarity and cooperation between community members to provide support to healthcare workers amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and asked that the public support them as they are the country’s “front-line defenders”.

Sharjah too announced that it was offering a 50 per cent discount on all traffic fines and was canceling the traffic black points accrued before March 31, 2020, and for a period of 3 months as of April 1, 2020 – though this new rule is applicable to all residents of Sharjah and not just medical personnel.

The UAE has, as of March 31, reported 664 coronavirus cases and 6 deaths as a result of the virus within the country.

The country’s medical staff have been roundly praised by authorities across the country.

Last week, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, tweeted a video expressing his gratitude to the country’s healthcare workers who are in the midst of battling the increasing number of Covid-19 cases.
