Current regional developments will ‘not affect’ UAE, Dubai not facing any threat – officials

The UAE has stressed that the current tensions in the Middle East region will not affect the country.

In a statement, the ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation that it was closely following regional developments, and reaffirmed the importance of de-escalating current tensions.

It called for diplomatic means and dialogue to deal with the situation.

The statement came after Iran launched missile strikes on US bases in Iraq on Tuesday night in retaliation for the killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.

In its statement, the ministry also stressed that the current tensions “will not affect the country, its citizens, residents or visitors”.

All the activities across all sectors are continuing to operate normally, it added.

Meanwhile the Dubai Media Office also rubbished media reports about “threats against Dubai” by Iranian officials.

“The Dubai Media Office confirms that the rumors circulating about allegations of threats against the emirate of Dubai are not based on any official source from any institution in the Iranian government, nor was any such threat issued by any Iranian official, so please be careful and accurate when publishing such reports,” a statement said.
