Home UAE Abu Dhabi Wizz Air Abu Dhabi to begin flights to Moscow in December The Moscow route brings the carrier’s total network of destinations to 33 by Varun Godinho October 27, 2021 Low-cost carrier, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, will begin flights to Moscow, its first destination in Russia, later this year. The flights to Moscow will be initially operated four times a week in December on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The service will be ramped up to a daily flight everyday from February 2022. The Moscow route brings Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s total network of destinations to 33, after having launched operations in January 2021. “We’re pleased to announce Moscow as the latest addition to our route network – the travel route between the UAE and Russia has for a long time been popular and we’re looking forward to increasing traffic between the two countries,” said Kees Van Schaick, managing director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. Jozsef Varadi, group CEO of Wizz Air added, “Today’s announcement underlines our commitment to bringing a growing number of low-fare opportunities for Russian travellers, and importantly, Wizz Air’s long-term strategic interest in the Russian market. With this new route, we are looking forward to opening up a Middle Eastern gem to Russian travellers, while allowing them to experience our high-quality service on the young and sustainable fleet of our newest national airline, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.” Read: Wizz Air Abu Dhabi to commence operations on 7 new routes Earlier this month the airline said that it would commence operations on seven new routes, bringing its third aircraft to full capacity. The new routes include Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Odesa (Ukraine), Muscat (Oman), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Sohag (Egypt), Baku (Azerbaijan) and Kutaisi (Georgia). Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will be ramping up operations further in the coming months by adding additional frequencies to Alexandria (Egypt), Belgrade (Serbia), Kyiv (Ukraine) and Tirana (Albania). The airline also plans to add another aircraft to its existing three aircraft by the start of the new calendar year.
