The UAE is known for processing work permits quite quickly – but now that process is set to get even faster.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced it can now issue work permits in as little as two working days, thanks to a new smart committee service. The announcement came as the Ministry showcases its technologies and innovations at GITEX Technology Week.
In a tweet, the Ministry said applications can also be made electronically, 24 hours per day.

As part of the changes, business owners and representatives no longer need to visit Ministry offices to submit applications, and can also see if they have exceeded their employee quota.
“Within two working days, business owners can obtain work permits through the smart committee service, which actions the establishment’s request electronically and around the clock,” read the tweet in part.
Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the 39th edition of GITEX Technology Week features business, governmental organisations and more from throughout the Middle East and world showcasing their latest technological innovations. More than 100,000 people are expected to have visited by the time the show wraps up on Thursday, October 10.
