Home Covid-19 Watch: UAE launches video campaign to highlight its fight against Covid-19 The government has hailed everyone in the country for their unified response to the pandemic by Gulf Business April 9, 2020 The UAE has launched a unique campaign to assure the nation of its efforts to combat Covid-19 while urging all citizens and residents to stand together in solidarity during this period. In a video message, the government hailed everyone in the country for their unified response to the pandemic. “Can a person trust a country? Or better yet, can 10 million? Will they be able to trust that all their needs will be met through thick and thin? And would everyone call it home?”, the campaign states. “We stand here in solidarity in the country we call home. In the leadership we unequivocally trust. In the nation that has given us new beginnings. This is the country where we have built our dreams. Our hopes. Our life. This is the place we belong. This is where we feel safe,” a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office alongside the video said. “At a time when the world is facing the biggest challenge in many generations, the UAE has been strong and authoritative in its bid to protect all its citizens. UAE residents have followed each new directive in recent weeks for one principal reason – trust. It’s the same trust that has helped the country grow into a global force. “It’s the same trust that has put UAE on the world map. It’s the same trust that instils pride in all of us to be part of this great nation,” the statement added. It also encourages everybody to play their part and trust the country. “This is the story about the trust every citizen of the UAE has in its governance and the decisions that benefit us individually and collectively as a community. The community that is trying to stay positive knowing and keeping its trust in the nation and workers who are ensuring our safety,” the statement said. “It’s the same trust that has guided the UAE through these challenging times and the same trust that will see the country emerge from the crisis even stronger than before,” it added. The UAE has taken several measures to curb the spread of Covid-19. Most international flights have been suspended, educational institutions across the country have been closed, and popular tourist attractions as well as major malls have been shut. A national disinfection programme is underway across the country with restricted movement between 8pm and 6am. In Dubai, the programme is in place throughout the day and permits are required to for residents to step out of their homes. The UAE has also opened drive-through Covid-19 testing centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with plans to roll out more across the country.
