Abu Dhabi has opened a new Covid-19 quarantine facility that can accommodate nearly 10,000 patients.

Known as Complex 3, it comprises of 2,874 rooms and can house 9,984 patients. Officials have added that it was built in “record time”.

“The complex delivers all the necessary services to all patients, including three meals a day and any personal items that are required,” said Faisal Al Kamali, vice president facility and infrastructure management and minister of state for Federal National Council Affairs.

Apart from the patients, there are also medical staff, administrators and security personnel including the police who are present on-site.

This new facility is in addition to the 46,500-square-foot Al Razeen Field Hospital which was readied in May.

The Al Razeen Field Hospital is staffed by 20 doctors, 50 nurses and 50 administrative staff.

It has a capacity of 200 beds for non-critical patients and 50 ICU beds too.

On June 7, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 540 new Covid-19 cases.

The total number of cases has reached 38,808 of whom 21,806 have now fully recovered.

The ministry also confirmed the death of one Covid-19 patient due to complications, raising the death toll to 276.
