Video: Sheikh Mohammed reflects on lessons in 2020

The UAE managed to achieve a lot in 2020 despite the unprecedented challenges the year brought on, the country’s Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has said.

Taking to Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the UAE put up a united front to handle the crisis caused by Covid-19.

“2020 has taught us that unity is strength, that happiness lies in our families, that excellence is in giving, that health comes before politics and economy, and that placing confidence in youth can lead us to the stars,” he said.

“[It also showed] that the UAE is above everything and that the idea of union is stronger than everything and everyone.”

Sheikh Mohammed also posted a video highlighting all the highs and lows of 2020 in the UAE, including empty roads during the lockdowns due to Covid-19, the major role played by frontline workers, the launch of the UAE’s Hope Probe to Mars and its signing of the Abraham Accords with Israel.

He said the UAE received “full marks” for successfully handling the challenges the year.
