Heavy rains fell over parts of the UAE on Monday, with a low visibility warning also issued by the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).

The country is facing the effect of a “surface low pressure system extension associated with a weak upper air trough”, the NCM said.

Cloudy weather conditions accompanied with rainfall will continue throughout the day – especially over northern and eastern areas, it added.

Videos shared on social media showed heavy rains and flooded streets in Fujairah and Al Ain.

The NCM also warned that moderate winds will causing blowing dust and sand, reducing visibility on the roads.

Temperatures will touch lows of 16 and range between 25 and 37 degrees celsius in the coastal and island areas, 24 and 39 degrees celsius in the internal areas and 16-30 degrees in the mountains.

Sea will be moderate to rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.

Looking ahead, the weather will be partly cloudy on Tuesday toward the east and southeastern areas with probability of convective clouds formation by afternoon, the NCM said.

Humidity is expected to increase on Wednesday night and Thursday morning over some coastal areas with a chance of mist or fog formation especially westward.
