Hollywood screenwriters guild, studios look to end strike with tentative agreement

After being on strike for over 146 days, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the entertainment industry’s official collective bargaining representative, arrived at a tentative deal on Sunday to resolve the historic screenwriters’ strike.

However, there’s no deal in place yet for actors currently on strike.

The organisations announced the deal in a joint statement following five days of renewed negotiations.

The WGA and AMPTP have reached a tentative agreement. This was made possible by the enduring solidarity of WGA members and extraordinary support of our union siblings who stood with us for over 146 days. Agreement awaiting approval from board, members of the screenwriters guild

The three-year contract agreement has to be given the nod by the guild’s board and members before the strike ends officially.
