Dubai-based Emirates Airline has capped further sales on its flights out of London Heathrow Airport until mid-August to assist the airport in its resource ramp-up, and is working to adjust capacity.

According to an official statement issued by Emirates and London Heathrow, the president of the airline and CEO of Heathrow Airport held a constructive meeting on July 15, with the Dubai-based airline agreeing to work with the airport to remediate the situation over the next two weeks, to keep demand and capacity in balance and provide passengers with a smooth journey through Heathrow this summer.

In the meantime, the airline said its flights from Heathrow will operate as scheduled and ticketed passengers can travel as booked.

The airline initially issued a statement on July 14 saying it would not reduce flights to London Heathrow Airport.

London Heathrow Airport announced on July 12 that it had capped the number of passengers flying from the hub at 100,000 a day in a bid to avoid long queues, baggage delays, and cancellations. London Heathrow attributed staffing shortages as the primary factor impacting the airport’s overall capacity.
