Uber has partnered with Mastercard to offer free rides home to all UAE residents returning to the country.

The service will be applicable for rides home from Dubai International Airport (DXB), Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUD).

There is no distance limit, however the ride limit is capped at a maximum of Dhs100.

Residents will be able to apply use the voucher which will be available in their app once they open it after landing in the country, a press representative for the company told Gulf Business.

The voucher offers one free ride and is valid until July 31, 2020.

Of course, their chosen mode of payment must be via a Mastercard.

Uber has said that there will be a “limited number” of trips being offered under this promotion, but added that that the “substantial number” of trips should suffice for enough rides to be serviced until the end of July.

Last month, Uber confirmed that it had rolled out new safety measures to safeguard riders and drivers, as part of an in-app safety list that makes it mandatory for drivers to wear a face mask or face covering and for the passengers to do the same as well in the UAE where masks are mandatory in public spaces.

The company said that globally it is investing $50m to help ensure every driver and courier has access to personal protective equipment, cleaning and sanitising supplies they need to work safely.
