Home Industry Telecoms UAE’s telecom providers offer discounts to senior citizens Both Etisalat and du are offering a host of services to senior Emirati citizens by Noha El Chaarani July 5, 2017 The UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has teamed up with the country’s two telecom operators, Etisalat and du, to offer special data and call packages to senior Emirati citizens. The providers will offer Masarra Card holders – available to over citizens aged over 60 – tailored packages to enhance their experiences. Card users with Etisalat will receive a 50 per cent discount on postpaid and prepaid data packages, customer service facilities such as priority access to Etisalat Business Centers, and prioritised responses when calling the service provider’s call centres. Using the Masarra Card with du, senior citizens who are using postpaid connections will receive discounts of up to 50 per cent while prepaid consumers will get 100 per cent additional balance. Other packages on offer include the Smart Pack 150 – which contains 6GB of local data and 300 flexible minutes – and is now available at Dhs75, down from Dhs150. The offer is in line with the Year of Giving initiative declared by UAE’s President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. TRA director-general, Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, said that the offer “expresses the partnership and joint efforts to contribute in achieving happiness. We consider this initiative as a simple but meaningful gesture as it concerns the senior citizens whom we respect and appreciate, based on a long tradition of solidarity and consideration to them.” 0 Comments
