UAE’s Ministry of Education announces winter holidays for private, public schools

A separate KHDA directive has stated that all private schools in Dubai are expected to resume classes on January 5

The UAE’s Ministry of Education (MOE) took to Twitter to announce the winter break for schools for the academic year 2019/20.

Winter holidays for government and private schools that follow the ministry’s curriculum across the UAE will begin on December 15 and end on January 9, next year.

Classes will resume on January 12, 2020.

“Winter vacation for students .. from 15 December 2019 until 9 January 2020… to be open on Sunday 12 January 2020 .. We wish everyone a happy holiday,” read the MOE’s tweet.


However, a representative at Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) told Gulf Business that private schools in Dubai are expected to follow their school calendars. According to the KHDA directive, all private schools in Dubai will resume classes on January 5.
