The weather in the UAE will remain cloudy in parts of the country on Monday, with rainfall expected in certain areas, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has said.

Heavy rain lashed out across many parts of the country on Sunday night, accompanied with lightning and thunderstorms.

Authorities in Ras Al Khaimah also blocked access to the UAE’s tallest peak, Jebel Jais, due to flooding in the valleys.

Heavy rains also caused waterlogging, with vehicles swept away by the force of the current.

On Monday, the NCM confirmed that strong northwesterly winds – reaching speeds of 58km/hr – will cause blowing dust and sand over the exposed areas, reducing visibility in parts of the country.

It also predicted a “significant drop in temperatures”, ranging between 14 degrees celsius to 26 degrees in the coastal areas, 15 degrees and 28 degrees in the internal areas, and reaching lows of 6 degrees in the mountains, with highs of 20 degrees.

The NCM also warned that the sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and rough in Oman Sea.

The rest of the week is predicted to see increased humidity, while the skies are also anticipated to clear up.
