UAE weather update: Rains expected with a drop in temperatures

The weather will remain hazy in the UAE, with rains expected in parts of the country, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported.

The NCM reported rains in Fujairah, Ajman and Um Al Quwain on Monday morning.

“An extension of a surface trough accompanied with a ridge of high pressure in the upper air over the north and east of the country and a surface ridge of high pressure over the west of the country and most parts of the Arabian Peninsula extends to the upper air levels,” it explained.

In general, the weather will be partly cloudy and hazy with a drop in temperatures.

Temperatures will vary between 14 degrees celsius to 26 degrees in the coastal areas, between 12 degrees and 29 degrees in the internal areas and touch lows of 7 degrees in the mountains, with highs reaching 20 degrees.

Strong northwesterly winds will also cause “blowing dust and sand” over the sea and exposed areas, with wind speeds predicted to reach up to 55km/h in the coastal regions.

The NCM also warned that the seas will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

Rains are also expected later this week with strong winds anticipated to persist, the NCM’s weather bulletin forecast.
