UAE weather: Moderate to heavy rain, winds hit parts of the country

Moderate to heavy showers with strong winds lashed across select parts of the country on Wednesday, April 15, rendering low visibility.

Heavy rain pelted over Barakah (Al Dafrah area), Um Al Shief field, Al Marfaa and Tarif (Al Dhafra area) as well as over Abu Dhabi Island.

Meanwhile, light to moderate showers scattered over Dubai, Sharjah and select parts of Abu Dhabi.

The UAE recorded its lowest temperature of 15.7 °C in Jais Mountain at 6.15am today.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy with rainfall over scattered areas, associated with lightening and thunder at times. Moderate to fresh southeasterly to northeasterly winds, and strong at times causing blowing dust/sand and deterioration of horizontal visibility,” National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said in a statement.

Temperatures will vary between 22-32°C in the coastal areas, between 21-35°C in the internal areas and 15-22°C in the mountains.

In light of anticipated weather events, NCM advised residents to comply with the directives issued by relevant authorities.

Overcast conditions are expected to spill over to Thursday, with probability of rainfall over scattered areas, associated with lightening and thunder activity during daytime.
