The Ministry of Health and Prevention in the UAE has reported 883 additional Covid-19 cases, as a result of more than 27,000 tests conducted to screen for the virus.

The total number of infections has now reached 31,969.

Meanwhile, two people of different nationalities succumbed to the virus, bringing the death toll to 255.

The total number of recovered cases has reached 16,371.

Dr. Amna Al Shamsi, UAE government spokesperson said that the UAE health system is efficient and capable of increasing and expanding Covid-19 tests across the country.

“Unfortunately, we still see new cases because of lack of commitment to precautionary measures and social distancing. Some families violated the social distancing and caused the increase we see in cases. Also, some violations are committed by some labour groups,” she added.

“The coronavirus threat is not over yet. We urge everyone to act responsibly, continue to follow social distancing guidelines and be committed to health practices to protect themselves and their families.”
