UAE reports 283 new Covid-19 cases, 98 recoveries

The total number of confirmed cases in the country has risen to 64,102

The UAE government reported 283 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, August 15.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country has risen to 64,102.

The new cases were detected following 77,640 tests conducted to screen for the virus.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention said that the newly detected cases belonged to different nationalities and the condition of all of them were reported to be stable.

It also said that two deaths occurred over the preceding 24 hours as a result of the virus. The overall death toll has risen to 361.

However, the ministry also said that there were 98 more patients who had recovered from the virus.

The total number of recoveries stands at 57,571.

In related news, on Saturday, Emirati company APEX National Investment signed a strategic commercial agreement with the Israeli TeraGroup to research and study the Covid-19 virus including developing a rapid-testing Covid-19 device.

Also on Saturday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the Covid-19 Command and Control Centre located at the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai and praised the efforts of the healthcare workers in containing the pandemic.
