UAE reports 225 additional Covid-19 cases, precautionary guidelines issued for shopping malls

The UAE government reported 225 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, August 9.

The cases were detected following 61,544 tests conducted to screen for the virus over the preceding 24 hours.

The total number of cases recorded in the country has risen to 62,525.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) also announced that 323 patients had recovered, raising the overall number of recoveries to 56,568.

There was, however, one Covid-19 death recorded too. The total number of fatalities has risen to 357.

The Ministry expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased.

It also urged everyone to cooperate with health authorities and adhere to the guidelines around physical distancing.

MoHAP on Sunday also issued a set of guidelines for precautionary measures that must be observed by shopping malls to prevent the spread of the virus.

It said that the frequency of the cleaning and disinfection processes must be increased and separate doors must be dedicated for entry and exit from the malls.

Also, electronic modes of payment should be encouraged, the temperature of staff and visitors must be monitored before they enter and customers must not be allowed to use fitting rooms for more than 10 minutes.
