UAE registers 568 cases, 5 deaths; total infections cross 39,000

The UAE announced 568 new Covid-19 cases on June 8, following more than 32,000 additional tests that were conducted among citizens and residents to screen for the virus.

The total number of infections in the country has scaled to 39,376.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention also confirmed that five people who had tested positive for the infection, had succumbed to it, raising the death toll to 281.

Meanwhile, with 469 additional recoveries, 22,275 people have till now recovered from the virus.

Dr. Amna Al Dahak Al Shamsi, the UAE government spokesperson said: “It is the responsibility of every one of us, citizens and residents, to abide by the regulations and follow the measures put in place by the UAE government. Violating regulations puts your health and others’ health at risk.”

“Since the beginning of Covid-19 crisis, the UAE Government put in place regulations and measures to combat the pandemic. Citizens and residents who fail to comply with the measures will be equally penalised as per the law,” she added.

Precautionary measures taken to combat Covid-19 seek to protect citizens and residents alike, she added, highlighting steps taken to bring UAE citizens abroad back home safely, repatriate those who wish to return to their home countries, and apply the remote work system in both the government and private sectors, WAM reported.

In this regard, she cited the e-learning system, the National Disinfection Programme, the gradual resumption of work from offices in the government and private sectors, and the resumption of numerous economic activities.
