UAE President Sheikh Mohamed arrives in Qatar

The UAE President was welcomed by Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Doha today, marking the start of his state visit to Qatar.

Sheikh Mohammed was welcomed by Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport.

The UAE President was accompanied by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser; Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court; Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Member of the Executive Council; and Ali Saeed Al Neyadi, Chairman of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority.

An official reception ceremony was held for Sheikh Mohamed at the Amiri Diwan, that included a guard of honour, and a band playing the UAE and Qatar national anthems.

The UAE President discussed brotherly relations and ways of enhancing cooperation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, to advance the common interests of both countries.

The Emir of Qatar congratulated the UAE President on the occasion of the 51st UAE National Day, and wished the UAE and its people continued progress and prosperity.

Sheikh Mohamed congratulated Sheikh Tamim and the Qatari people on the success in hosting the FIFA World Cup and described it as a source of pride to all the GCC countries, and to the Arab world in general, official news agency WAM reported. Qatar is currently hosting the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, with the tournament’s final to be held on December 18, coinciding with Qatar’s National Day.

Furthermore, the meeting explored the relations between the two countries and the prospects for growing their cooperation to boost prosperity.
