The centre will play a key role in promoting the use of Arabic across government and educational bodies, ensuring that it is more widely used in official letters and communication as well as have a more integral part within the education system.

The centre will be responsible for preparing studies and reports about Arabic content, and even address any obstacles impeding the development of the language.

It will also establish Arabic language libraries, art works, book fairs and conferences, and propose agreements and partnerships for the Department of Culture and Tourism to further the use and development of the language.

The centre will promote the use of Arabic in artificial intelligence technology too and prepare specialized encyclopedias and dictionaries.

Shortly after the announcement of the establishment of the new centre, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, appointed Dr Ali bin Tameem as chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic language Centre.
