The UAE’s National Crisis Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) has issued a warning of a severe weather event for the coming days in the country.
In its alert issued at 5 PM local time, the authority warned of the possibility of water accumulation in low-lying areas, flooding in certain areas, and multiple regions are expected to be affected by the weather conditions. They urged avoidance of gatherings that may effect the work of relevant authorities.
NCEMA to close roads
The UAE authorities announced that local officals will close roads leading to mountains, valleys, and dangerous areas due to the likelihood of flooding. The authority warned against visiting these areas and preventing the work of local officials.
Additionally, the NCEMA said that e-learning could be implemented based on the decision taken by emergency and crisis management authorities.
It further added that cancelling of events, and scheduled activities could be announced by local authorities, based on the developing weather conditions.
NCEMA alert
The UAE is bracing for a weekend of rainy, stormy conditions with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting convective cloud activity along with thunderstorm, lightning and hail from Thursday, March 7 to Sunday, March 10.
