UAE-based on-demand fuel delivery service Cafu will offer free fuel to employees working at Dubai Health Authority (DHA), it announced on April 19.

Cafu is collaborating with the emirate’s health authority to offer free fuel to 640 of its employees to ease off some burden that weighs on the front-liners as they help combat the spread of the pandemic.

Last month, Cafu committed free fuel for all ambulance vehicles operated by Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) for a period of two weeks.

As an extension, those DHA workers registered with Cafu are being extended a Dhs75 discount on their next two fuel deliveries.

“Cafu has evolved into an essential part of people’s lives since its launch. We now operate 180 trucks across Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain,” said Rashid Al Ghurair, founder and chief executive officer at Cafu.

“Our healthcare professionals are the first line of defense in this fight against Covid-19. This initiative serves as a small token of appreciation to thank all DHA employees for their huge sacrifices, long working hours and their tremendous efforts. It is not an overstatement to say that they truly are our heroes in these difficult times.”

Amna Al Suwaidi, director of Human Resources department at the DHA said that the medical sector is committed to overcoming the challenges of containing the spread of the pandemic.

She added that in these difficult circumstances many private and public entities have launched initiatives in solidarity with DHA’s medical cadres and that the authority is happy to partner with Cafu.

The total number of cases reported in the UAE now stands at 6,781, with the death toll at 41.
