Home Covid-19 UAE Covid-19 cases cross 1,000, highest in four months The total number of cases recorded in the UAE has now risen to 746,557 by Gulf Business December 23, 2021 The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) reported 1,002 cases on Thursday, marking the highest number of cases in four months. The new infections were detected after 365,269 Covid-19 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours across the country. The ministry said that the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care. The last time daily case count crossed 1,000 was on August 23, when the country reported 1,060 infections. Last week, the daily case numbers stood as low at 200. MoHAP also said on Thursday that no Covid-19 related deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, with the total number of deaths in the country remaining at 2,154. An additional 339 individuals have fully recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 739,616. The UAE has urged the public to be cautious – especially during the holiday season. Earlier this month, the country announced new guidelines to be followed during Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations in the country. Venues for celebrations will have a capacity limit of 80 per cent, the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has said. All attendees must provide a negative PCR test result taken within 96 hours and undergo mandatory body temperature testing.
