The UAE Banks Federation has announced it will host its inaugural conference in Dubai next month.

The Middle East Banking Forum, to be held on 26 November, will become an annual event for member institutions of the Federation, which includes 50 banks operating in the UAE.

The topics for discussion at the conference will include prospects for banks in the Middle East following the aftermath of the Arab Spring, as well as the continued subdued global economic growth.

“We are responding to a demand from our members for an event which brings together the leading participants in the UAE’s banking sector as well as their international counterparts to review the latest trends and to hear from some of the world’s leading proponents of best practice, as well as visionaries and experts in a wide range of financial disciplines,” said HE AbdulAziz Al Ghurair, chairman of the Federation.

Senior bankers, economists and top tier representatives of regional and international banks and other financial organisations in the UAE will attend the conference.

The event will be an opportunity to focus on a range of topics including the UAE’s progress as a regional financial hub, Islamic banking and cross-border expansion.
