UAE aviation authority denies rumours of Dubai plane crash

Reports circulating on social media claimed a plane had crashed in Dubai on Tuesday



The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has dismissed social media reports about a plane crash in Dubai on Tuesday as being “untrue and misleading”, official news agency WAM reported.

The GCAA urged the public “not to circulate these rumours through social media” and said it is the sole authenticated source of any information related to aviation sector”, the report added.

On Thursday, four people died in a plane crash close to Dubai International Airport.

The small plane – a Diamond DA42 aircraft – crashed about 5km south of the airport at around 7.30pm on Thursday evening, killing all four people on board including the pilot and his assistant.
